Guide for UK trades
A five-star review is the easiest win you'll get all week, and most trades leave it sitting there with no reply. A short, personal thank-you takes a minute and shows the next customer there's a real person behind the business. Here's a simple way to do it, plus eight example replies you can adapt.
One to three sentences. That's all it needs.
Use the name they reviewed under if it looks like a real first name. "Thanks Sarah" beats "Thank you for your review" every time.
The job, the area, the tidy finish, the person who did the work. One specific detail is what stops it sounding copy-pasted.
"Give us a shout if you need anything else. Dave" is plenty. No sales pitch needed.
Swap the [brackets] for real details. Only say what's true for your job.

You don't have to, but it's worth it. A short thank-you shows future customers that a real person runs the business and reads what people say. It also makes the customer more likely to recommend you again.
Try not to. A page full of identical replies looks automated. Keep a few starting points, then add one detail from the review, such as the job, the area or the person who did the work.
No. Keep personal details out of public replies. Mention the type of job and their first name if they used it, nothing more.
Within a few days is ideal. Many trades batch replies once a week, for example on a Friday afternoon, which is fine as long as it's regular.
